Student having fun in the month of February

February has been alot of fun for TOC students as there were two events organised for the student.

Firstly, there was the Student Council BBQ Night. This event is specially arranged for the Student Council members as they have been working very hard for the team and also for the welfare of the students, thus they earned the opportunity to party and enjoy themselves.

Food!

About 15 members turned up for the event, along with lecturers and staff who were invited for the "makan-makan" session. The Student Council members chipped in to help with the preparations of the food, barbecuing the food and also in putting together games for all to play.

Everybody gathering around the food.

It was definitely an enjoyable night as there was enough food to share, games session were entertaining and fun, and it was also a good opportunity for the students, lecturers and staff to mingle about without the formality.

As for the second event, it was the Chinese New Year celebration for all staff and students. It has been a tradition for TOC to organise a CNY celebration each year in the campus. Besides to usher in the new year and hope for good fortune and successful year ahead, it is also for international students and foreign trainers to get to know the Chinese culture and what it entails.
Students tossing "yee sang"

On this special celebration day, we have prepared the must-have"yee sang", a raw salmon salad comprised of shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces and condiments. This dish actually symbolise abundance and prosperity, and all the students and staff tossed the ingredients into the air while saying various auspicious various out loud.

Trainers took part too!

Another auspicious tradition was the lion dance, as it is the symbol of power, of warding off evil spirits and bad stuff. We invited the incredible lion dance troupe from Catholic High School (CHS) to perform, and what a great show they gave us!!
