OTTO CAMP - See it, Believe it!

Students, parents and car enthusiasts were invited to our recent OTTO CAMP held at our campus last week. It was an exciting day for the participants as not only they get to know about our quality courses, they were brought on a tour to experience first hand the state-of-the-art facilities available!

Due to overwhelming response, we will be organizing another OPEN DAY at our campus (Seksyen 19, Petaling Jaya) this coming Saturday (March 26 2011) from 9:00am to 3:00pm. TOC's OTTO Camp serves as a chance for the public to actually participate in learning sessions as they toured the college premises to view the facilities, tools and equipment available.

This is a great opportunity if you would like to find out more about the career options available in the automotive & motorsport industry and how TOC can help you in terms of securing a job upon graduating from the college.

Lion Dance at TOC!

In conjunction with this year's Chinese New Year, TOC organised a CNY gathering and celebration for both staff and students. The activities of the day included a CNY pop quiz (winner gets an angpao!), yee sang and even a spectacular lion dance performance by the Catholic High School Alumni Association (CHSAA) Lion Dance Troupe.

The international students, they were introduced to the tradition of CNY for the first time!

The Lion Dance Troupe also gave us a superb "Pole Performance", entertaining all of us with their funny routine.

The belief behind the ceremony of the "lion dance" performance is to fight off evil spirits and to summon good luck and fortune. Upon completion of the pole performance, the Lion Dance Troupe later went around the college, from the front gate to all the classrooms, resource centre and office areas.

After the tour around college, the lions proceeded with the traditional ground performance, the presentation of a tray of fruits to the CEO, Ms. Adelaine Foo.

Leaving behind a little something for us too =)

Oceans in trouble

DID YOU KNOW:

- According to research, if we go on with the current rate of Industrial fishing, the only fish left in 20-30 years time would be farm bred fish?

- That more than 80% of all ocean pollution comes from land?

As the global levels greenhouse gas is steadily increasing, the oceans are warming up as a result. This causes bleaching of corals, slowing its growth and makes it susceptible to diseases and ultimately leading to large scale reef die offs.

Industrial fishing has wiped out as many as 90% of large predatory fish! Since 1950, more than 50 million tons of tuna and other top predators have been taken from the pacific ocean. The Atlantic Ocean was the hardest hit – with over 45% of its stocks are overfished.

Its time we realized these problems and start doing something about it! Together, we can all play our parts to save mother nature!

The Incredible OTTO Camp

TOC's FIRST OTTO Camp this year was held last Saturday, on the 15th of January 2011.

The day started out great with visitors coming in from all over Malaysia - Pahang, PD and more!
As with every other OTTO Camps, the visitors were brought around the campus for a tour of the cutting-edge facilities, where our highly skilled and qualified trainers would guide them through the various diagnostic tools and equipment.
Visitors were also able to experience these equipments first hand, with TOC trainers bringing them through the procedures of using these equipments. The purpose of this activity is to give these visitors a preview of these equipments so that, should they choose to be in the automotive industry, they would be well prepared to handle these tools and equipments in their everyday lives.
Overall, the event went smoothly with almost 300 visitors to our very first OTTO Camp this year. Thank you very much to all staff and students who helped out last Saturday!

A very Happy New Year to all our staff, students and friends. How was everyone's countdown? Have we all made our New Year's Resolution?
May this year bring upon you guys good health, much happiness, prosperity and many dreams fulfilled.
