Charity Car Wash Comes To An End

Today is the last day for TOC's Charity Car Wash, and I have to say that we have received tremendous support from many people and we truly appreciate that.

On behalf of TOC, I would like to thank everyone who gave support to this charity drive, either by donating money directly or send their car for car wash.

More importantly, I would like to thank all the 17 students who volunteered themselves for this charity effort. THANK YOU for putting in your time and effort for these five days, without which this Charity Car Wash would not be a success.

A Genuine Effort For Charity

TOC's students had the opportunity to visit the home of Society for the Severely Mentally Handicapped (SSMH), a non-profit organisation aimed at providing rehabilitation for children and youths with severe (multiple) mental and physical disabilities. The students were there to get a better understanding of the centre and the condition of the children there, where they were introduced to the daily schedule of the centre, the staff and the special Snoezelen Room.

As SSMH operates based on the funds and donations from the public, TOC launched a Charity Car Wash activity in its genuine effort to help raise funds for this special centre to maintain its daily operation.

The specialty of this Charity Car Wash is that 17 TOC's students dedicated their free time and volunteered to wash the cars themselves, .

This Charity Car Wash started on June 8, 2009 and will end on June 12, 2009. If anyone of you who live or work nearby, please feel free to drop by for a car wash, as your money will go to a good cause. The car wash is available from 9am-5pm, at PJ19 Food Court Car Park. For car wash and vacuum, the charges is RM10, whereas the charges for engine cleaning, washing and vacuuming of the car is RM15. The amount raised will be donated to SSMH.

TOC Student won the 2nd Place in F1 Fun Kart Final Round

I am so excited to announce that TOC Student, Umar Medi had again made TOC proud as he won the 2nd place in the F1 Fun Kart Race 3 Final with the F1 Drivers. He is just behind Christian Khen, the F1 driver from BMW Sauber.

It is so hard to believe that the students can win over the other F1 drivers but he had made it true!

TOC student won Go-Kart Competition

Last weekend, TOC sent 10 students to race against 120 drivers from 12 other colleges at Sepang International Circuit.

The students who took part in the event consist of those from The Otomotif College (TOC), Multimedia University, Uniten (Universiti Tenaga Nasional), Lim Kok Wing University, Universiti Teknologi Mara Shah Alam (UiTM), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UTM), Multimedia University (Malacca Campus) and University Industri Selangor (Unisel).

We are proudly to announce that TOC Student – Umar Mehdi had won the 1st place and Leroy Lee Jun Liang was at the 6th place.

The TOP 4 drivers got the chance to race with the F1 Teams, GP2 Asia drivers and Formula BMW Pacific drivers on 2 April, Thursday at Sepang International Circuit.

A1 Team Malaysia draws interest for TOC

This past weekend A1 Team Malaysia joined us at the Facon Education Fair held at the KL Convention Centre.

The fair aimed to encourage post secondary students to consider the college options available to them. The A1 Team Malaysia simulator was one of the main attractions on the TOC stand, drawing in prospective students to learn more about the offering of the college. Aaron Lim, one of the team’s drivers, also visited the stand, spending time meeting fans and signing autographs. With over 500 visitors over both days at the fair, the A1 Team Malaysia simulator was in high demand. It ran non-stop over the two day event with nearly 200 people putting their skills to the test in the virtual A1GP race car.

Higher Education Ministry Director general Datuk Professor Radin Umar Radin Sohadi did not miss a chance to try the simulator and commented about the fair, “Although our country is facing an economic slowdown and there are many unemployed graduates, students should still take tertiary education seriously and acquire the right attributes in order to be marketable later on.”

A1 Team Malaysia driver Aaron Lim was on hand to guide and tutor the budding race drivers on the simulator and he commented after the event, “The Facon Education fair is a great environment for students to be able to look at the options for the next step in their career ladders.

The A1 Team Malaysia simulator was a real crowd puller to the TOC stand and it was great to be able to chat with students who are interested in the automotive sector and motorsport.

“As a long term partner to the Malaysian A1GP team, we know first hand how the TOC can assist young students with their career goals. The students who study at the TOC could potentially make the transition into Malaysian motorsports in the future and grow into race series such as A1GP.”

The boys were invited to tea with Iain Seymour-Hart" ( Unitec Head of Transport Technology), "Niranjan Singh" (Unitec Head of Automotive Transport Technology), "Prabhat Chand" (Unitec Programme Co-ordinator).

They are now pursuing their degree; Bachelor of Science in Applied Technology (Automotive Engineering) for another 1.5 years in UNITEC, New Zealand.

Just the other day..

Interesting place to put a menu no?=p

Just the other Day… a colleague of mine sent me this photograph of a menu placed within the toilet. I think its rather useful for those in there for “long business” so that they can think about what to order after they have finished in there.
The prices look reasonable but the walls need a fresh coat of paint.

The question is… will be want to eat in such a restaurant with a toilet such as this? What say you people out there?
