Students accessorizing their Cars with TOC’s Car Decal!

The early-birds who were excited to install the decal on their cars
Sometime last month, the TOC’s car decal installation made another comeback. This is so that, the students who missed the chance during the last round of the decal installation session, could redeem their free decal. This time round, the session witnessed an approximate number of 30 registrations.

During the session, other students who registered right on the spot also joined in the crowd to get their free car decal installed at the rear window. TOC prides itself to offer world-class automotive education and it is with great joy to see the students’ cars displaying our very own TOC logo. Not only does it signify pride and belonging they feel towards the college, it is also a form of encouragement given towards the institution.

TOC Supa Strikers

TOC staff brought “sporting” to a whole new level during their win at the Media Prima Costume Bowling Tournament held at One-Utama Bowling Centre. The frolicsome bunch – who named their team “The Strikers” - were represented by Mr Nobert T.Butacan Jr (Mr Butch), Mr Rodrigo Dedase, Mr Esmerald Mendoza, Mr Enrique Llevada and Ms Noor Aziah.

The team was expecting an easy time, but little did they know that many of the other teams were tremendously skilled in the sport. “We were expecting a friendly game, when we spotted players equipped with full bowling tackle. We even caught wind that some of the bowlers have been playing bowling professionally,” said Mr Butch. Despite being relatively novice in the sport, the TOC bowling team took fourth place; but emerged as the winning team for ‘Best Costume’.

The men were clad in a “Peter Pan” outfit while Ms Noor Aziah as “Captain Hook”. The TOC bowling team comprising mostly trainers shed their daily “educators’ image” and showed that they are a potent combination of fun, dexterity and sportsmanship.

Ice cream anyone?

Nestle Drumstick held a road show at TOC recently. Students and staff were treated to fun games and activities, with the Plasma TV Nestle Ice-cream Game being the highlight of the event.

We are proud of you!

And we are talking about one of our 2009 graduates, Yong Kaoh Jie!

He won a gold medal in the automatic transmission system category in the recent 9th Hyundai World Skills Olympics 2011 held in South Korea!

"I am extremely happy when they announced the winners. There were more than 100 participants from around the world and they are all experienced technicians who are older than me. TSo I was sort of the underdog."

"I first came across a skills competition years ago before I joined TOC and it got me intrigued. After I joined TOC, I am delighted as it opens up the door for me to participate in various skills competitions. I am very grateful to the trainers and the education platform provided by TOC as it gave me a very strong foundation. Winning a gold medal in this Hyundai World Skills Olympics 2011 has given me a boost of confidence in doing what I know best - diagnosing/servicing cars", said Yong.

Congratulations Yong!

A day to be remembered

It was Fathers’ Day on that particular Sunday, also one of the proudest moments for the fathers of the graduates of TOC.

It was TOC’s fourth batch of graduates, this time churning out a total of 238 graduates, with 172 of them in attendance.

This annual prestigious event was held at the Sunway Lagoon Ballroom. Students started arriving in the morning for registration as well as preparation for rehearsal. Parents joined their children shortly before the event started.

The MCs for the day - the charming Mr Farid and the beautiful Ms Nina

The guest of honour this year is Ir. Iain Seymour Hart, the Head of Department of Transport Technology from TOC’s university partner from New Zealand, Unitec Institute of Technology. It was not an easy journey for Mr Iain to Malaysia – given that many of the flights from New Zealand was grounded due to the volcanic ash from Chile’s volcanic eruption from the previous week. Thank you Mr Iain for trying so hard to make it to the graduation! Also in attendance this year for the first time ever, was Jeanette Taylor, the general manager of TOC Australia.

Every year, TOC selects 5 of its most promising students, in terms of results and curricular activities.

This year’s Outstanding Award Achievers are:

Sulaiman Shah Bin Shaik Halauddin, Sachin Raj Shakya, Yong Jenn Yoong, Lim Choon Peng, and last but not least Mochammad Ikhsan Utama.

TOC's 2011 Outstanding Achievers

The Outstanding Award Achievers each received a certificate from the college in recognition of their accomplishment, a trophy sponsored by Proton Holdings Berhad, a 6-month training package from Sime Darby Motor Division Sdn. Bhd. and MOMO steering wheels from Bombshelter Studios.

Overall, the event went well and on schedule.

In closing, Ms. Adelaine Foo, the CEO of The Otomotif College, quoted the wise words of Jason Mraz, “Live, High, Live Mighty, Live Righteously” – a message to all our graduates reminding them to always keep their two feet firmly on the ground even after achieving great success.

A great big congratulation to all our graduates of 2011! You guys did great!=D
